Our students thoroughly enjoyed the brilliant session provided this morning from the happy puzzle company. Lauren delivered the session with clear instructions, brilliant resources and all the students were completely engaged for the entire session. She created an incredibly calm, and productive environment that also has enthused the students to be a little bit competitive with their efforts. The students are all looking forward to the next session next week.

The different puzzles really helped the pupils build on their social skills, creativity and observational skills. The workshop was arranged for More Able pupils who have English as an Additional language to give them an opportunity to problem-solve collaboratively with learners from other schools. The day was a huge success for pupils and staff! The pupils enjoyed the activities, especially the competitive element and teamwork. The staff loved that the learning objectives were achieved and the way pupils were communicating and collaborating with pupils from other schools. ”

We held a puzzle challenge day for some of our senior students and invited students from one of our mainstream partner schools. It was inspiring to see both sets of youngsters interacting and working towards a goal in a fun environment. Students were also able to show progress in key areas of using and applying and space, shape and measure, including discussing patterns and problem solving. The puzzle activities are fantastic for developing our students’ spatial awareness, co-ordination, social and fine motor skills and we have now incorporated many puzzles into our daily lessons. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these events to other special schools.
